Butter & Blessings Home Bakery — Love passed down. A legacy worth sharing.

Good questions, honest answers

Frequently asked questions

Everything folks ask us most — about our home bakery, pickup and delivery, cake sizes, and how to order.

What does it mean that you're a cottage food business?

Butter & Blessings is a cottage food home-based business in Woodland, Alabama, serving all of Randolph County. Alabama's cottage food law lets home bakers sell the cakes they bake in their own home kitchen directly to customers — that's exactly how we do it. Because we're a cottage food business, we're not subject to FDA regulations the way a commercial bakery is. Every cake we make is baked in our home kitchen with the same love we'd put into a cake for our own family. We're not a commercial storefront; you reach us by call, text, or email, and every order is confirmed with a personal call or text.

Pickup or delivery — how does that work?

Pickup and delivery are both available within Randolph County. When you order, choose your cake, the date you need it, and pickup or delivery — delivery just needs your address. Delivery is free within 10 miles of our bakery; trips over 10 miles have a $15 delivery fee, confirmed when we call. Orders need 48 hours notice, and we can't bake on Mondays, so the calendar shows the days that are open.

Stop by our booth at Porch Dogs Cafe & Farmers Market (1499 Main Street South, Wedowee, Alabama) for sampler boxes and personal Bundt cakes, ready to buy on the spot — no order needed.

What sizes of cakes do you offer, and what do they cost?

Cakes come in two sizes: half and whole. Ready-made cakes are $40 for regular flavors, $45 for Red Velvet, and $50 for fall flavors and Lemon Blueberry — all dressings included. Custom cakes are $20 half / $35 whole, and you can add extras: whipped cream cheese frosting, candied pecans, and fresh fruit are $5; glazes, sprinkles, coconut, and chocolate or white chocolate chips are $3–$4. The form shows the price as you choose, and we confirm the total with you before anything is final.

How do I request a custom cake?

Tap Customize a cake on our home page (or the button below), then tell us your flavor, size, the date you need it, and the occasion — you can add notes and even a photo for inspiration, and our little helper turns your idea into a clear brief for Randi to review. Our cakes are classic Bundt and pound cakes: we don't do writing or fondant, but we make them pretty with glazes, nuts, fruit, and sprinkles, and we'll do our best to make it the way you want.

How far ahead should I order?

We ask for 48 hours notice so your cake is baked fresh and has time to set. We're closed for baking on Mondays, and we can take up to 2 whole cakes a day — that's the most our home kitchen can do right — so popular weekends fill fast. You can book up to 6 months ahead, and the order form only shows dates that are actually open.

How will I know my order is confirmed?

After you send an order, Randi reviews it personally and calls or texts you at 334-338-4003 to confirm the details and the total. Nothing is final until you've heard from us. You can also reach us any time at 334-338-4003 or randilove23@gmail.com.
